Sometimes it is hard getting back into the swing of things when injured. Coming back from an injury is not easy at all. I have a separated shoulder and a pinched nerve in my neck. I have to say this injury was my most painful by far. I ruptured my achilles, popped my knees and ankles before but none compared to this injury. So to say that I was apprehensive to do things after a while is an understatement.
After all the physical training and multiple doctor visits I needed to prove to myself that I was better. It was psychological more than physical. I had to go back to training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. So that’s what I did. And when I did I reviewed some techniques and felt pretty good. I haven’t been able to work out for over 2 1/2 months and it showed. When I went to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class I was so sluggish and timid. Let just say I only rolled at about 30 % and I was sore for the next couple of days after.
The moral of the story is, even though it might take some time, don’t give up. Sometimes you just have to get back on the horse once you fall off and get back to riding hard again. This is the advice I give from coming back from an injury. You have to heal and get back to where you were. It is worth it.
